Administrative Board

Our mission statement:
Living in a rich, restless relationship with the university, the Wesley Foundation, as an expression of Christ’s Church, seeks:

  • the uniting of mind and spirit, and
  • the transformation of lives and communities.

At the Wesley Foundation, our ministry grows out of the belief that we are both a mission of and to the church. We find ourselves at the margins, where the church and the academy meet, and we find this to be fertile ground for ministry.

Administrative Board members come from various parts of our community — the university, local churches, the larger community, our ecumenical and interfaith friends, and students.

The Administrative Board implements and supervises the ministry of the Wesley Foundation at the University of Virginia, providing for the development of an effective program of Christian worship, study, pastoral care, discipleship, and service. The Board is also responsible for the policies governing the ministry of the Wesley Foundation, for the employment and supervision of staff, for the management of financial affairs, and for the care and use of the United Methodist properties entrusted to the Wesley Foundation.
