Spring Break 2009
Wesley has a long and rich tradition of spring break mission trips. In recent years we’ve traveled to Mexico, Philadelphia, Appalachia, Missouri, Virginia’s Eastern Shore, Arizona, and New Orleans. In March of 2008 we volunteered in Hazard, Kentucky.
Students choose to spend their spring break serving others, while in the process learning more about themselves and God’s action in the world. Spring break includes Christian outreach and service, worship, fellowship, faithful reflection, and a lot of fun. Our Student Coordinating Council organizes and plans the trips.
Our next spring break mission trip is March 1-7, 2009 and we will volunteer with the United Methodist Relief Center in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, where we will help with home construction and rehab: www.umrc.org
In addition to regular students and new student friends, we are inviting non-student friends to join us — board members, alumni, and local church members in our district. If you would like to spend the week in service while getting to know some exciting future leaders of our church and world, please contact us for more information.
We are pleased to accept donations towards our trip, which can be sent directly to the Wesley Foundation. You can also make a donation online by clicking the “donate now” icon in the right hand column.
You can also help by purchasing our Valentine’s Day Cookies — all proceeds go towards our spring break mission trip. They are ultra-delicious and will be ready the weekend before Valentine’s Day. You can purchase them for $4 per dozen. Just call our office or send an email to Office Manager Sharon Bolmey to put in your order.
For more information, please contact our trip coordinator Lauren Gilchrist (ltg6s) or Wesley Foundation director Deborah Lewis.
